Monthly Price Guides

By Tim TimUnleashed Kerin

"At SFE we believe it is our responsibility to set prices that are reasonable and fair.

In order to do this, SFE undergoes a monthly review of prices that is an intricate balance involving the current monthly averaged market prices of the ingredients we use, procurement prices as supplied from SFE Logistics department, success rates as dictated by SFE Crafting department and of course the cost of Blueprint procurement for those blueprints that have a limited life expectancy!

All of this swirls around our amazing spread sheet and out come the price recommendations for the following month!

Price Guide #36 - February 2012

posted Feb 10, 2012 7:40 PM by Jim Morris

Welcome to the latest SFE Price Guide!

It's been another month of high activity for Jim and I here at SFE, busily getting ready for our imminent expansion to Arkadia!

We recently acquired Booth #3 at Celeste Quarry, a hub for commerce at Planet Arkadia, and are in the throes of getting ready to launch it.  More news on that when the task is complete.

The other big news is that we are now selling Cetus (L), the Level VII BP Arkadian armour.  Currently it's only for sale at Celeste Quarry, but we're working on making more room at our PA Mall store for it as well..

Price changes this month are all lovely drops.  In particular, Spectre (L) and Lich (L) now represent outstanding  value indeed.

Price Adjustments

Dunkel Plastix has shed about 1,200% from its price in the last few months, which has allowed us to drop our prices dramatically on both Dragon and Expedition., seems in high demand at the moment, and its price unfortunately pushes up the cost of making Phantom and Trooper:
  • Dragon decreased by 274 ped: The four pieces that use Dunkel Plastix dropped dramatically (Arm Guards by 39 ped, Harness by 95 ped, Shin Guards by 45 ped and Thigh Guards by 95 ped), to bring the total purchase price of the six pieces of this boutique armour (no Foot Guards) down to TT + 917.60 ped.
  • Expedition decreased by a whopping 410 ped: All seven pieces of the set use Dunkel Plastix, so they all dropped accordingly, and now the total price of a suit is an all-time low for us of TT + 1670 ped.  It's a rarely seen, good-looking armour, that some of our buyers use as a plate carrier.  Give it some consideration at this price!
Light Metal Plating has finally come off the boil, and that change has gone straight through our system to the one armour that uses it:
  • Lich (L) decreased by 350.86 ped: Each piece of this glorious set dropped by roughly 50 ped, taking the total price of a full TT set down to 2,220.44 ped.  That's ridiculous, considering that among other things, it gives you 45 impact protection.
A variety of material price drops brought up an unexpected boon for those out there who are fans of the old pixie on steroids:
  • Spectre (L) decreased by 75.29 ped: Each piece of this set shed roughly another 10 ped, bringing the total price down to 1,242.03 ped.  For an armour that gives 31 impact protection, 15 cut and 18 stab (among other things), this works out at only a tad over 200%.  A handy one to have ready for those occasions when the stakes are a bit higher.

Notes and tips

Currently there are six Arkadian armours now on sale in our Port Atlantis Mall shop, with a seventh soon to be added:
  • Musca (L)
  • Corvus (L)
  • Canis (L)
  • Lupus (L)
  • Hydra (L)
  • Ursa (L)
  • Cetus (L) - coming soon
Keep your eyes open for news of the launch of our Celeste Quarry shop!

Until next month!

Price Guide #35 - January 2012

posted Jan 22, 2012 7:49 PM by Jim Morris   [ updated Jan 22, 2012 8:01 PM ]

Welcome to the latest SFE Price Guide!

Well, what a month!

We haven't opened a shop on Arkadia yet, but we've been busy there.  So busy, in fact, that the first SIX suits of Arkadian armour are now available for sale on Calypso.

This month, we added Hydra (L) and Ursa (L)  to the range, and we're working on Cetus (L) at the moment.

We also finally managed to put a suit of Phantom up for sale in our Twin Peaks Mall shop, but it got snapped up straight away.  Now we're back to the grindstone picking up that hard-to-come-by Rugaritz and putting another suit together.  We dream of one day being able to make a supply that keeps up with demand!

As far as prices are concerned, only a hike in the cost of Rugaritz had any significant material effect last month.

Price Adjustments

Rugaritz seems in high demand at the moment, and its price unfortunately pushes up the cost of making Phantom and Trooper:
  • Phantom increased by 200 ped: 25 ped for piece except for the Harness which increased by 50 ped.  A full suit is now a still historically very reasonable TT + 3,575 ped.
  • Trooper inceased by 125 ped: we absorbed the Rugaritz increase in the cost of the Harness and we don't have Foot Guards, so it was just the remaining five pieces that each went up by 25 ped.  We do know someone with the Foot Guards BP though!
Ignisium has come off the boil a lot lately - enough to warrant a little drop in our long-stable Warrior:
  • Warrior decreased by 1.4 ped: Arm Guards, Harness and Thigh Guards each dropped, by 0.4, 0.5 and 0.5 ped respectively.  Hooray for some extra value being passed on at this level!
New prices:
  • Hydra (L) is priced at a different % for each piece, but they all range from 152%-160%.  Total cost of a full TT suit is 618.48 ped.
  • Ursa (L) is priced at a different % for each piece, but they all range from 147% - 150%.  Total cost of a full TT suit is 891.12 ped.
That's remarkably consistent price prediction there from Arkadia Studios, as far as ingredient values are concerned.  We'll see what we can do about bringing it all down a bit over time as we become more established on Arkadia, the market settles, and we accumulate more crafting data.

Notes and tips

Arkadian Armours now on sale in our Calypso shops:
  • Musca (L)
  • Corvus (L)
  • Canis (L)
  • Lupus (L)
  • Hydra (L)
  • Ursa (L)
Until next month!

Price Guide #34 - December 2011

posted Dec 5, 2011 4:12 AM by Jim Morris

Welcome to the latest SFE Price Guide!

Last month, we dropped the price on two armours.

This month, the only price change we have is that those two armours have dropped further!

Last month we told you that we had begun selling Musca (L) in our Port Atlantis Mall shop, as our first foray into Arkadian armour.

This month, I'm happy to say that we've added three more!  You can now browse through Musca (L), Corvus (L), Canis (L) and Lupus (L) in our Port Atlantis store - the first four of the Arkadian armour series.  We're still working on the rest!

Last month, we were still looking forward to shops being released on Arkadia.

This month, 6 booths have gone on sale in the last 24 hrs, and we've already publicly stated we'd like to rent one here.

Oh, and
Lich is still a bargain!

Price Adjustments

Maganite is now at a nice healthy price, so our only change this month is to drop prices on the below two armours for the second month in a row!
  • Samurai dropped by 18 ped: 6 ped for each of the Arms, Harness and Thighs (the 3 pieces that require Maganite in their construction).
  • Vindicator dropped by 56 ped due to drops across all seven pieces of the set.

Notes and tips

LICH (L) remains RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP!

Shops are coming soon on Arkadia!

At TT + 375 ped, a full suit of Vindicator is 144 ped cheaper than it was two months ago!

Until next month!

Price Guide #33 - November 2011

posted Nov 13, 2011 3:25 AM by Jim Morris

Welcome to the latest SFE Price Guide!

It was a strange month for armour pricing.  Apart from Dragon and Expedition dropping massively, it was time to sharpen our pencils on a few armours.  But the adjustments we made, while significant in terms of the armours they apply to, were sometimes as small as 0.6 ped!

The exception was Maganite's drop that pulled Samurai and Vindicator back down by handsome amounts.

Despite all this,
Lich is still a bargain!

The other piece of great news is that we're now selling the Arkadian armour "Musca (L)" from our Port Atlantis Mall shop!  It looks awesome, and at 125%, it's exactly 50.00 ped for a full TT suit.  Go and take a look for yourself!

Price Adjustments

  • Medium term trends in Durulium and Terrudite have meant we've finally needed to increase the price of Berserker a notch.  But it's only by a total of 1.6 ped for the suit.
We made a mistake last month with the pricing on Dragon and Expedition, overestimating the extent of the recent increases in Dunkel Plastix and Langotz.  As a result, we increased the prices unnecessarily.  Fortunately, nobody was harmed by this.  Those armours are now both back down to their prices of the previous month.  So:
  • Dragon dropped by 150 ped for the 6 pieces we sell (no Foot Guards).
  • Expedition dropped by 209 ped (for all 7 pieces!).
  • A tiny adjustment in the big scheme of things, but important in its own level, is that we reduced the price of a suit of Pioneer by 1 ped due to a big enough, sustained enough drop in Megan.  Yay!  A whole ped!
  • We found two places to shave a little off Renegade, mainly due to the long term downward trend on Alicenies Gel.  So Renegade fell by 0.6 ped.
Maganite seems to have gotten over itself, after a random spike in price last month.  So that meant we could put our prices down again for both Samurai and Vindicator.  Therefore:
  • Samurai dropped by 33 ped for the 6 pieces we sell (no Foot Guards).
  • Vindicator dropped by 89 ped for the 7 pieces down to TT + 431 ped.  Lovely to have it sitting nice and low.

Notes and tips

NEWS OF THE MONTH:  LICH (L) remains RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP!  I remember when this armour was selling for more than 7,000 ped a suit when it was first released!  It's now a little over a third of that!

Seriously, that's a full suit of armour with 45 IMPACT PROTECTION, among other things, for 2,571.38 ped, full TT!

If you missed it the first time (at the top of the page), we're now selling Musca (L) at our PA Mall shop for 50 ped a suit!

Price Guide #32 - October 2011

posted Oct 14, 2011 6:11 AM by Jim Morris   [ updated Oct 14, 2011 6:14 AM ]

Welcome to the latest SFE Price Guide!

Hi Everyone,
This month sees the CEO taking in the sights around Germany and France, and so for something a bit out of left field, the reigns have been handed to me for a while.

General Comments

September has been a pretty mild month from a logistical point of view with only a few materials making moves enough to effect prices. However those that did have again been ones that are generally rare and/or expensive to begin with.  So as you can imagine, even a slight shift with some of these can cause pretty major PED fluctuations....But remember, that is not necessarily always a bad thing. See below for details.

Price Adjustments

Berserker: Price Increase, Arms from tt+12.5 to tt+12.8, Thighs from tt+9.5 to tt+10.  Nothing major there, just bringing a long term trend into alignment.

Dragon: Price Increase, Arms from tt+200 to tt+225, Harness from tt+395 to tt+445, Shins from tt+195 to tt+220 and Thighs from tt+390 to tt+440 and (Due to Dunkel Plastix rising significantly once more).

Expedition: Price Increase, Arms and Gloves by 21 ped each, Helmet, Foot Guards and Shins by 20 ped each, Harness by 41 ped, and Thighs by 66 ped.  This is an unfortunate symptom of recent price climbing of both Langotz and Dunkel Plastix.

Ghost (L): Price Decrease, by 5 to 10 ped per piece.  Our prices are now Arms and Shins 201%, Face Guard 195%, Foot Guards and Gloves 199%, Harness 181%, Thighs 198%.  This is a correction of long term trends, and hopefully makes Ghost L a little more attractive.

Lich: Price Increase, across the whole suit fairly evenly, by a total of 182 ped.  This is due to an unfortunate supply drop of Light Metal Plating (caused, we believe, by higher recent levels of demand for Lich!), and we hope things will stabilise again soon.  If you like this armour, feel free to go and hunt the creatures that produce Light Metal Plating and offer it to us!  The total cost of a suit of lich is still a very impressive 2,571.38 ped.  Still very low by long term standards.

Phantom: Price Decrease, with Rugaritz as mercurial as ever, we once again modify our Phantom price, this time in a nice direction for our customers.  All pieces dropped by 60 ped each, except for the Harness which dropped by 120 ped.  This puts a suit of Phantom at a highly competitive tt + 3,375 ped.  Tell your friends!

Samurai: Price Increase, with Maganite putting on a bit of a show, the pieces that require it jumped a fair bit.  Arms and Thighs each from tt+56 to tt+67, Harness from tt+62 to tt+73.

Trooper: Price Decrease, suffering the same fate as Phantom, is always subject to the whims of the price of Rugaritz.  This month we dropped the 6 pieces we have (not including Foot Guards) by 273 ped, down to tt+3,069 for the 6 pieces.  We know the guy with the only Foot Guards BP in game, so may be able to arrange for the Foot Guards to order if you require it.

Vindicator: Price Increase, when Maganite moves, Vindicator moves.  We had to increase the price of a suit by 88 ped this month, so a full suit now costs tt+519 ped.

Notes

Lich and Phantom are both still at very attractive prices.  Now is a great time to expand your armour collection.

We are still eyeing off Arkadia, but as yet shops aren't available.  We wait in the wings with bated breath.

You can check out both of our shops at Shop #10, Floor 1, Twin Peaks Mall and Shop #10, Floor 1, Port Atlantis Mall. If you can't find what you are looking for, check the other store or order it from us using our ordering service on our website http://www.southernfortress.com.au

Price Guide #31 - September 2011

posted Sep 3, 2011 7:36 PM by Jim Morris

Welcome to the latest SFE Price Guide!

Well, it has been a month of consolidation.  We have just finished the construction of a new database for analysing our own sales and markup history data.  As a result, there are a few minor price adjustments we needed to make to a few armours.

However, there has also been a major adjustment is our Lich price, which is now ridiculously cheap, for what it is.  I can hardly believe my own maths.

Price Adjustments

First, the big news.  We have decided to reduce our price of Lich (L) by approximately 60 ped per piece.  That means it's now about 420 ped cheaper to buy a suit of Lich (L), for a total of 2,389.38 ped.  That's a suit of armour that has 45 IMPACT PROTECTION, among other things, for less than 2400 ped.  If you're serious about your hunting, top end protection has never been this good a deal.

Dunkel Plastix has been dropping in cost for some time, but that trend has finally changed course, and the price is is significantly higher than it was a month ago.  We've decided to pass on some but not all of this increase for Dragon and Expedition.

The increase in Dunkel Plastic caused us to push up our prices for Dragon by 40 ped for the whole suit.

The increase in Dunkel Plastic caused us to push up our prices for Expedition by 70 ped for the whole suit.

We have
increased the price of Luna (L) because Robot Flare Filters seem to be continuing a price rise.  A few months ago they were in the 450% price area.  Today they're around 720%!  The cost of a suit, however, has only increased by 48.51 ped, because we decided to absorb some of the increase.  We believe this still represents good value for this solid armour.

Given the above, it's no surprise that Maganite was another material to see a price turnaround, and having hit a record low price for Vindicator last month, we decided to revert our prices back to those of the previous month.  So the price of Vindicator is now 40 ped higher, but that is still the second lowest price we've ever had for it, and we still think it's a great deal for this beautiful black and white protection.

Our cost to craft Samurai was also affected by the Maganite increase, but we decided to absorb those changes instead of increasing our prices.

Notes and tips

NEWS OF THE MONTH:  LICH (L) IS RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP!  I remember when this armour was selling for more than 7,000 ped a suit when it was first released!  It's now about a third of that!

Good luck this month, if you're participating in Planet Arkadia's hunting competition!  Stop in and pick up a fresh suit of armour before you make the trip!

Price Guide #30 - August 2011

posted Aug 5, 2011 7:32 PM by Jim Morris   [ updated Aug 5, 2011 8:42 PM ]

Welcome to the latest SFE Price Guide!

I love it when I get to tell you guys that we're dropping some of our prices!

Between reviewing some of our crafting data, and Maganite continuing its historic decline, our prices are pretty much at their lowest in our 6 year history!  Here are the ones that we've changed this month!

Price Adjustments

The price of a suit of Predator is now dropping!  It has been one of our most popular armours for many years now, and that has given us plenty of data.  We've worked through it and justified dropping our price down a notch to 135%.  For those of you who are regular users, we hope you like the extra ped that stays in your pocket!

The price of Vindicator continues to plummet!  This month we drop our price to a new record low for the third month in a row!  This month the Harness has dropped by another 10 ped, and all other pieces by another 5 ped.  A full suit of the famous black and white armour now will only set you back TT + 391. That's 639 ped less than two years ago! It's madness!

Also benefiting from Maganite's plight, Samurai prices have dropped again!  The three pieces that utilise Maganite have been reduced by a further 5 ped per piece.  Of course the Foot Guards are not available as usual, but you can kit yourself up with the other six pieces now for a total of TT + 194.4 ped.

Notes and tips

I repeat myself from last month:  Vindicator is at a new all time low!  Looking awesome has never been this good a deal!

We've noticed a resurgent interest in Luna (L) lately.  The key ingredient, Robot Flare Filters, are a lot cheaper than they used to be, so at 1,228.21 ped for a full TT suit, it's little wonder we're starting to see some renewed interest.  Look up the stats on it!

Thanks for your attention!  You'll hear from me in about a month!

Price Guide #29 - July 2011

posted Jul 8, 2011 8:31 PM by Jim Morris   [ updated Jul 8, 2011 8:35 PM ]

Welcome to the latest SFE Price Guide!

Well, the new financial year has begun, and what better way to celebrate than to keep all our prices the same except for one which achieves a new record low for us yet again.

Last month I mentioned that we want to make inroads into supporting the Arkadian economy, but at this stage it's still too early, with access to shops not yet available.  Rest assured we are watching that space with interest.

If you know somebody who you think would like to receive this sort of information on a regular basis, please get them to sign up for the Monthly Price Guide at the front page of our website,
www.southernfortress.com.au or use the sharing options at the bottom of this email.

Price Adjustments

The price of a suit of Vindicator dropped by a total of 48 ped.  This is because the cost of Maganite has been plummeting for a while now, and has reached the lowest level we've seen in our 5 years of records, and by a decent amount too. No, this is not a stuck record.  It really did happen again, just like last month.  Last month, we dropped our price to a record low tt +479 ped, and this month we've dropped it AGAIN to a record low tt + 431!   To put that in perspective, our price in early 2008, calculated using the same methods, was around tt + 1030!

Notes and tips

If you missed it, the price of Vindicator is at an all time low.  Beautiful black and white armour for only tt + 431.  Looking awesome has never been this good a deal!

If you want to get involved with a fresh new community, take a look at Planet Arkadia Forum.  They say the people there are the best going around in Entropia!

Lich is an awesome armour at an awesome price.  Check out the stats and our pricing at www.southernfortress.com.au today!

Price Guide #28 - June 2011

posted Jun 13, 2011 3:53 AM by Jim Morris   [ updated Jun 13, 2011 4:12 AM ]

Welcome to the latest SFE Price Guide!

First things first!  Sorry for missing the May Price Guide.  I was backpacking around south west Europe with a good friend, and only intermittently in contact with the internet.  I have been appropriately scolded by Logistics.

Second things second!  The long-awaited arrival of Planet Arkadia has come!  It's amazing what they have managed to achieve in only about 9 months of production.  Of particular delight to us at SFE is the Arkadian armours which are looking very attractive indeed.  You can rest assured that SFE is investigating its options.  We'd love to have an armour shop there, providing Arkadians with all their armour needs, and will work hard to do that.  The community at Arkadia Forum is also extremely vibrant - I'm having trouble keeping up with the threads!

It seems to be too early in Arkadia's days to get an idea of how its existence will affect material prices.  The cost to craft quite a few of our armours rose a little over the last couple of months, but we've decided to absorb those increases for now.  Demand for Rugaritz went up during the month, mainly fuelled by SFE's need for it, and the price shot up accordingly.  If we followed our normal rules we'd have to increase the price of quite a few boutique armours.  However, for now I'm going out on a limb and predicting that the price of Rugaritz will subside again, so we've decided not to change the prices of the armours affected by it.

Therefore, there's only one change this month and it represents a very good deal!

If you know somebody who you think would like to receive this sort of information on a regular basis, please get them to sign up for the Monthly Price Guide at the front page of our website,
www.southernfortress.com.au or use the sharing options at the bottom of this email.

Price Adjustments

The price of a suit of Vindicator dropped by a total of 57 ped.  This is because the cost of Maganite has been plummeting for a while now, and has reached the lowest level we've seen in our 5 years of records, and by a decent amount too.  A full set of Vindicator will now only set you back tt + 479 ped.  To put that in perspective, our price in early 2008, calculated using the same methods, was around tt + 1030!

Notes and tips

If you missed it, the price of Vindicator is at an all time low.  Beautiful black and white armour for only tt + 479.  Looking awesome has never been this good a deal!

If you want a nice change, have a look at Entropia Star Forum, a nice little growing community, and a place to get to know some new people.

YES!  We now offer Phantom to order (and still strive to one day have a suit in the shop for you to admire).  If you're interested, our contact details are always at the website, or you can reply to this email.

Price Guide #27 - April 2011

posted Apr 10, 2011 8:02 PM by Jim Morris   [ updated Apr 10, 2011 8:10 PM ]

Welcome to the latest SFE Price Guide!

It's hard to believe it's April already, with so much happening this year in the world of Entropia Universe, and for us at SFE.

In this edition, we've slashed 140 ped off the price of a suit of Trooper and 160 ped off the price of Phantom!

If you didn't catch our big announcement on the 18th of March, you can view it here.  Well, SFE is very much alive and kicking this month, and we have some good news, with price drops to five of what what we call our boutique armours - armours that look great but need rare ingredients to make them.  They just became more affordable because of drops in relevant material costs, by what we think are some decent margins.

If you know somebody who you think would like to receive this sort of information on a regular basis, please get them to sign up for the Monthly Price Guide at the front page of our website,
www.southernfortress.com.au or use the sharing options at the bottom of this email.

Price Adjustments

The price of a suit of Dragon dropped by a total of 60 ped.  Thanks to further reductions in the cost of Dunkel Plastix, 15 ped tumbled from the price of the Shin Guards, Thigh Guards, Harness and Arm Guards.  The 6 pieces of the suit we make available (no Foot Guards unfortunately) are now tt + 1,151.60 ped.

The price of a suit of Expedition dropped by a total of 62 ped.  Expedition uses two rare and expensive ingredients - both Dunkel Plastix and Langotz.  While the cost of Langotz climbed, it wasn't enough to counteract the drop in Dunkel, so we made the following price
decreases: Shin Guards down by 7 ped to tt + 230, Thigh Guards by 20 ped to tt + 410, Harness by 18 ped to tt + 445, Face Guard by 6 ped to tt + 228, Arm Guards by 8 ped to tt + 231, Gloves by 3 ped to tt + 229.  Foot Guards remain unchanged.  Expedition is a very good looking plate-carrier, and you can now get yourself into a suit of it for only tt + 2,005.

The price of a suit of Samurai dropped as a result of the price easing on Maganite for the third month in a row.  We were able to take a very healthy 10 ped off each of the three pieces that uses this rare mineral (Thigh Guards, Harness, Arm Guards).  It now costs only tt + 209.40 ped to get yourself the 6 pieces of the suit that SFE makes available (no Foot Guards unfortunately).

A lull in the price of Rugaritz caused the price of a suit of Trooper to drop nicely.  We took a lovely 20 ped off each of the price of the Shin Guards, Thigh Guards, Face Guard, Arm Guards and Gloves, and 40 ped off the Harness.  All six pieces now cost you 140 ped less at tt + 3,342, and we know the guy who has the only known Foot Guards Blueprint in the game, so don't be afraid to ask for a full suit and we'll see what we can do!

As Rugaritz moves, so too does the price of Phantom, which we were able to drop the price on by a total of 160 ped.  Just like we did for Trooper, we took 20 ped off the price of each piece (this time including the Foot Guards), except the Harness which dropped by 40 ped.  A full suit of Phantom, made to order, now costs tt + 3,847 ped.

Notes and tips

Did you know we have full suits of eMINE (L) available in good supply?  It's great value protection, so why not give it a go?  Since it's Limited, you know you can rely on SFE to have the replacement pieces ready for you when it breaks.

Thanks for your attention!  You'll hear from me in about a month!
